How do i downgrade from OS 6 to OS 5 on BB9700??? I hate OS 6!!!

Hi...Plssssssssssssssss someone help me resolve my problem...

I have unknowingly upgraded by BB9700 software from OS 5 to OS 6 and it has screwed up my phone entirely..Its soooo slow and keeps hanging....Even the device memory is Low (14 mb) post upgrade...I wanna revert to OS 5....

I am using  a MAC (v 10.6.8) and have researchd the net and the various forums but could not find any solutions for MAC users....I am using the BB desktop software and thats where i upgraded the OS....

Also how does one free up the device memory? I keep deleting old mails / pics / msgs / cache / history / media files etc....Is there any other way to free up device memory? Also how does one save downloaded applications from BB App world to media card instead of device memory?

My phone is super slow post upgrade.

Someone pls help me.... Thanks in advance.....

Hello SR and welcome to the BlackBerry® Support Community Forums.

Sorry to hear you are having issues after upgrading your BlackBerry® Bold™ 9700 smartphone software.

If you wish to downgrade, using your Mac®, go to Applications then Show Other Versions. You can select an older version to downgrade.

(There is a Blog post on updating software that has some information on downgrading available at http://helpblog.blackberry.com/2010/12/update-blackberry-using-mac/)

If you have access to a Windows® computer, you can also follow KB14249 How to return to a previous version of BlackBerry Device Software.

If you wish to retain the current software version, you can check out KB14320 How to maximize battery life and free memory on the BlackBerry smartphone.

As for saving applications to the media card, it is unsupported. The media card can store media files only, not apps.

Hope this answers your question.

Hi HMthepirate for your help....

With regards to "If you wish to downgrade, using your Mac®, go to Applications then Show Other Versions. You can select an older version to downgrade." I do not get such an option in the desktop software (V 2.3.1) I also clicked on the Applications icon and even the list of applications is not being displayed dont know why!

Pls advise. Thanks.

What version of OSX is your Mac running?

Are you connected to the internet when you try to view other versions?

Do you have access to a Windows computer?

Hi sorry for the late reply.

The OSX version is 10.6.8. Yes I am connected to the net when I try to view other verions. Yes I can access a friends Windows computer if I really need to.

Thanks for your reply.
