When I get a message or e-mail or some sort of notification and my phone is in the holster, it automatically pop's up the message without me telling it too.  I can see why this is a nice feature, I'm not exactly looking to use it right now.  I'd rather just go into my inbox and look at the sender first before opening it.

Is there a way to disable this feature so when I get a message, I take it out of my holster and it'll just have the little icon on the top to tell me I have a little mail or a little bbmessage or something?

Go to profiles, select emails, messages and select go to the holster setup.

Turn off all notifiers in the holster.

Be sure to change all profiles to these settings for the in holster.

I think it solved my problem, sort of... but now I don't get any notifications telling me I have a new message of sorts.  I want to be able to know I have a message, just don't want it to pop up immediately when I take it out of my holster.

Yes you do...

You have the email folder and the missed call indicators on the top of the home screen.

Okay... Is there a way that I can be notified that I have a missed call, new e-mail, new SMS/MMS in the form of a vibrate, tone or both in the holster but remove the auto pop-up when I remove it from the holster.

I don't see how the vib/tone indicator is linked to the auto pop-up feature on the phone.  I want to be told I have a new message, I just don't want to open it right away.  I wanna see who it's from, if its important I'll reply, if its spam crap mail from my inbox, I don't want to open it.

im having the same problem, but ive read if you wait about 15 seconds or so, it wont pop up, but that's also annoying. my phone just started doing it all of a sudden, im not sure if i set it to a preference, but i cant figure it out, anybody with some knowledge please let me know

I recently had the Bold 9700 with OS 5.0 and it had the option to disable auto open of new received messages. The Bold 9000 with OS 4.6 does not have this option so I would imagine that when Rim releases 5.0 for the 9000 we will have the ability to disable the auto opening of new received messages. Hope this helps.

the option is named "Auto Open Newest Message After Removing Device From Holster and there is a dropdown menu :
- Always
- Never
- After Sound or Vibration
