I just switched on my brand new Bold 9000. The very first thing I'm being prompted for is to enter my PIN in 3 tries. I have 2 left.
I assume it is the PIN that came with the BB and not the SIM-card pin, right? (1)
I'm new to BB and unfamiliar with the keypad. My main concern is how to switch between letters and numbers? (2)
There's a '123' in the upper right-hand corner of the screen, which I reckon indicates num lock mode. According to the 'Getting Started Guide' pressing the 'alt' key should turn off the num lock mode - but not on my BB, at least not before entering the PIN.
How do I get the device out of num lock mode? (3)
.. and when I get it out of num lock mode, which key should be pressed to enter a number, 'alt' or 'sym'? (4)
Does the 'alt' or 'sym' key have to be held pressed in while pressing the number key or does it just have to be pressed first? (5)
Thanx, Jesper

Go to Options and click Status. That will give you your PIN. As for unlocking the number lock... try the Upper/Lower case button. That works on my Tour.

Hey. Thanks for replying.
I have it figured out by now but I did get one SIM card locked in the process:-)
First it was of course the SIM card pin code and not the BB pin code which is prompted for. The unfortunate thing is that you cannot operate your device at all until you enter the right pin code in only 3 attempts. This means you have to figure how the altenate use of keystrokes works on this neverseen before keypad the very first time you use it. There is no help and you cannot see what you write because it's simply diplayed as ****. On top of that you sit with this cool new device and you're really impatient. It took me 10 minutes to lock the card!
5 minutes later with another sim card I learned that I just had to press the [sym] key to open up a graphical numeric keypad with which you easily enter the numeric pin code using the trackball.
I wish this was mentioned in the 'Getting Started Guide'.
Cheers, Jesper

Hi
I have the same problem but won't get it solved with this method.
The difference is that my pin is a four letter word which i cannot type because the phone is numlocked (123 in the upper corner). So how do you schange symbols (switch from to number letter before entering the pin???)
Anyone there to save me?
