Here is the procedure. First check with your carrier's blackberry download site to see if there is a new os update:

I have many problems with the phone, is to slow, is there a software update? what do I have to do to download it and where can i find it? Thanks
.162 release has been a good release upgrade for most.
and follow those directions bifocals gave you.

I may be wrong, but it is my understanding that you must have at least version 4.6 of the bb desktop software in order for the bold to be recognized. These instructions do not seem to match up with that version. I was able to find directions for installing a new os by searching device software in the bb desktop manager help. Just wanted to share as this was something I had to do some searching for.

Hi, I have a question on this... Once you do that, does the phone lock itself back? Mine is unlocked and I need to do this in order to update it and to connect myself to internet via Wi-fi. Thank you.
