Insert SIM Card

About an hour ago my phone came up with the message Insert SIM Card at the top of the screen and SOS coverage only. I've removed the SIM several times but this has not fixed the problem,also had to put in my Blackberry password as it thinks a new SIM has been inserted. I can still open old emails and view contacts. Any ideas?

Have you tried replacing the sim card with a new one?
