Internet connection Bold 9650 in South Africa

I imported a  B Berry Bold 9650 from America and everything worked well with the local network provider for more than a year.  On July 25 th my internet connection stopped working.  My network provider says they did a network upgrade and all foreign phones are now unable to connect to the internet.  They say their is nothing that they can do for me.  Just before my ph was disconnected I tried to download the Blackberry App World Version 3.1.4.25  Could this have caused the problem? Ta

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

It is quite doubtful that the AW update attempt you made caused this problem. Rather, since each carrier owns their network, they have every right to say what devices will be allowed to connect to it. If they say "no", then that's the end of it (unless there is some specific contractual term that you have which would prevent them from making this change to "legacy" devices that they previously allowed to function on their network).
