Is it possible to install 5.0 OS to my BOLD 9000?

Yesterday, my friend got her 9700, onyx. and when I saw her BB, her OS seems way better,

and I figured she has 5.0.

In my bold, i have 4.6 OS.

Is it possible for me update my OS from 4.6 to 5.0 on BOLD 9000??

Somehow I could download the software when I googled it up. But i am still unsure those

softwares are reliable/official/compatible to my bold 9000.... So here I am asking a question..

The latest version for the 9000 is OS 5.0.0.509.

Device operating system releases are "released" by specific carriers once they have certified and trained their support techs, but still, you are able to load to any carrier's same model by following the instructions below.

Do a backup of your device first, using Desktop Manager > Backup. Close Desktop Manager upon completion.

1. Download the OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

Hi I'm looking to update my os also to 5 frm 4.6 on my bold 9000 In doing so will my unlocked blackberry become locked to 1 network only again or will it remain unlocked Look forward toyour reply
