A couple of annoying issues have recently cropped up with my Bold 9700.
First, my Blackberry has suddenly started to delete huge numbers of past appointments from my Calendar, which then tries to delete them from my Outlook Calendar when I synch the device to my laptop. This hasn't happened before, and I checked to make sure the device calendar is set to never delete appointments, and it is set correctly.
Second, my Blackberry App World application (both on the device and online) isn't showing any of my installed apps except for one, but they are all still on the device and functioning properly. I have 18 apps installed from BB App World, beyond the pre-installed apps on the device, which are less than 10 MB in total size.
The reason I think the problems might be related to internal flash memory is that whenever I want to install an app, I usually get a message stating there is insufficient memory and that I should uninstall some other apps to make space. When I checked my memory earlier, it indicated less than 1 MB was available. I rebooted the device and now it's telling me there is 12.2 MB available, which still seems incredibly low to me considering that I have only installed about 10 MB of my own apps. As well, I delete all email file attachments from the device and don't keep email on the device beyond 30 days, and any media is stored on a flash card, not in the device memory.
The most important issue I need to resolve is how to prevent the device from deleting Calendar data (it keeps recurring appointments but has deleted everything else prior to about two weeks ago).

Hello,
It's a self-protect mechanism that BBs have. When AppMemory (not Device Memory, not Media Card Memory) get's low, the BB must begin deleting things to preserve it's ability to function. Unfortunately, it really can only go after data...it can't really go after installed apps. Here are some guidelines to use:
Further, it is always important to properly close applications when you are done with them. Using the Back or the Red key will not do this -- those leave it to the app to decide what to do...and some will leave themselves resident in memory, consuming resources on your BB, slowing the overall performance. Rather, to close an app, press and select "Close" or "Exit"...that will force the application to be closed, freeing up for your new use the resources it was consuming. Some apps will always remain running (typically -- BBMessenger, Browser, Homescreen, Phone, and Messages)...but, you should still close them properly - especially the Browser...if it is left on an active web page, it will not only consume extra resources but battery power as well.
Now, AppMemory is not just for apps...the actual BB OS is in there as well. Depending on the options you've included, that could be bloating things as well.
Good luck!
