Lost email account in email setting

I was recently prompted to change the password for my work email account on my blackberry (not through enterprise server) because I was not receiving messages.  I waited a few days before attempting to change the password.  Now when I go to change the password, the email account does not show up in the email settings application (despite the fact that the email folder is still on my home screen).  Any idea how I recover the email settings, because I have not been successful in setting up the mailbox from scratch.
