First off, by saying "you" and all else you said, it sounds like you think that by posting here you are contacting RIM formal support? If so, you are not...this site is a user-to-user community of volunteers; it has nothing to do with any formal support from, communication with, nor escalation to RIM.

Further, as far as I am aware, RIM sells no devices direct to anyone. Rather, there is a channel of authorized resellers..and it is they who are responsible for all device-level front line support, including warranty issues on the device. RIM provides no front-line support for anything...it all must first go through the channel of purchase, mobile service plan subscription, or authorized service centers (which exist or not depending on region).

So, now that you understand what can be done here (e.g., nothing "authoritative" nor "behind the scenes")...

That is odd...do you type in the SIM unlock code that you were provided? And, do you know that your specific BB is 100% compatible with the carrier you are trying to operate it on?

But the MEP-0 concerns me...that typically means that the device is now "hard locked" to the original carrier for which it was manufactured, and only the factory can unlock it to allow it to be used on other carrier networks. So, if that's truly an ATT BB, then it can likely only now operate on the ATT network, and no other.

Sadly, your recourse is with your place of purchase...they have sold you a device that is hard-locked. If they represented it as being able to operate on other carrier networks, then they misrepresented it to you. But your recourse is with them...as that is the only place with which you have a purchase contract. Hopefully they are reputable and will be willing to work this out with you.

As it stands, unless you run this BB on ATT, you can have no voice nor data functionality from it at all.

Good luck!
