It has been about 5-6 months now since Vodacom quit allowing CDMA network devices to work on their network. There are many many posts here about the issue.

 

I don't know why people from SA buy CDMA network BlackBerrys, or 9650/9630/8830, etc. they will not work. They should, but Vodafone will not send the Service Books required. Do not buy any Verizon or Sprint in the USA branded devices.

 

Only buy devices made specifically for GSM networks.

First, try to return it to the seller and try to get your money back.

Hey chucky7,

Sorry for the delay in replying.

 

I checked the PIN and it is not blacklisted.  Currently it shows there is no BlackBerry data plan.  I would just speak to your provider to get a BlackBerry data plan added to your SIM card and then try restart the BlackBerry.

No problem thanks for your response, i definately have a data plan activated on the sim as it works fine in my torch 9800 , i belive the problem is the service books arent being sent to my phone from vodacom , do you know how i can maybe manually load them or something...

So you're positive on the BlackBerry Data Plan?

 

Backing up service books from the 9800 and restoring them to your 9930 using the BlackBerry loader.exe, is possible, but it's my experience you will never get all of them restored.
