Model info and OS version: BlackBerry Bold 9700 OS v5.0.0.405

Everytime I receive an email I get the red star meaning a new message on top of the email account icon on the home screen, but I don't get the small new message indicator on the very top next to the clock, I only have an envelope showing how many unread messaged I have, but it dosen't have a star.

I have checked under options and the Message Options / General Options / Display New Message Indicator is set to YES.

Does anyone know why that is??

Have you tried performing a hard reset by removing the battery for 10-15 seconds while the device is on?

I have the same **bleep** issue!!!

Here is an update on the situation:

I did a batt. pull and left it off for about 10 minutes. After rebooting I sent a test message and it worked- I got the red idicator in top tray next to clock- HOWEVER it failed to show the indicator on every message after the first.
