Please help someone! Did a software update from OS 5 to OS 6 on my BB Bold 9700 but without the SIM card inserted (realised later that this update cannot be done without a working data connection) and since then I have no data connection on my phone. EDGE appears in lower case and the service provider confirms that everything is OK at there end, but everytime they try and send me a message with the settings, its not being received. I then did a software downgrade to see if it solves the problem but no luck. Pleaseeeee HELP me!
Thanks

So, your 9700 is currently on which operating system?
Please go to your Manage Connections screen. There, is your Mobile network selected and checked?
Click on the Mobile Network Options and make certain your Data Services is turned ON.

OS 5 at the moment. Data services is all on. Have done diagnostic tests, manually sent registration requests via Host Routing table option under advanced settings. The carrier provider can see these request being sent but I dont receive anything back.

Do you have a BlackBerry Data Plan enabled on your account with your carrier or mobile provider?
You must, in order to get the push email functions, and addtional BlackBerry data services such as the internet browser, Facebook for BlackBerry, BlackBerry Messenger, and much more.
So, call your carrier and inquire about having the BlackBerry Data Plan added to your account.
Good luck.

Hi.
Thanks for your responses.
I have been using a BB for while now and know that I need a data plan on my account for these services. I am facing this issue for last four days since I did the OS upgrade to 6.0 without a SIM inserted in the phone?
Let me know if you know of a solution.
Thanks

I'd suggest that you wipe the device using BBSAK and reload the OS once again, this time with your SIM card inserted.
