Re: No Data Plan - Connected to Wi-Fi but No Internet Access?

gerrnatts, first off, reboot your router. If you need help with that, just say.
Second, on the 9700, delete that saved WiFi profile and restart fresh your 9700 connection to the WiFi router.

Re: No Data Plan - Connected to Wi-Fi but No Internet Access?

I've tried different types of rebooting i.e. Reset, Hard reset and factory reset. But still it's not working. And also, yes I've deleted the saved wi-fi profile on my phone a dozen of times, manually set it up, still not working. Tried doing the PBC thing. still not working.

Re: No Data Plan - Connected to Wi-Fi but No Internet Access?

[ Edited ]

hi guys,

I have the same problem... Smiley Sad

JSanders,

at my Manage Connections screen, next to the WiFi router name, I see a white dash " -- ", not green check mark...
What should I do?

one year ago, it didn't have problem like this...

by the way, for connecting internet at my home wifi via all notebooks, I also must set Alternate DNS Server with 8.8.4.4, Preferred DNS Server with 8.8.8.8, and  leave IP Adresss with "Obtain an IP address automatically"...

so, Is it a must for setting my BB wifi like setting notebooks have in order to be able to use my Wifi?

If it is a must, how to set those?

Thanks in advance Smiley Very Happy

The white dash indicates you are connected to the WiFi router, but not connected to your BIS BlackBerry Internet Service account.  You need to call XL and inquire that your BlackBerry Data Plan is still effect.

Re: No Data Plan - Connected to Wi-Fi but No Internet Access?

Am a newbie to the forum but have owned my 9700 for a couple of years now. It works fine while in-country, but when I travel overseas it sometimes connects over WiFi and sometimes not. Even connect/doesn't connect from one day to the next in the same location. I have a full check mark against the WiFi SSID, but no BB symbol on screen.

Is this a phone setting issue,or maybe the local WiFi service provider, or??

I have a valid data plan in my home network country and have Data Roaming turned off for obvious reasons - any bright ideas most welcomed....

You should get data over wifi the way you're doing it.

What is your Operating System loaded to your device? Look at Options > Device > About, third line down beginning with a "v.6.0.x.xxx", What is yours?

Re: No Data Plan - Connected to Wi-Fi but No Internet Access?

first of all, thank you for replying, sir JSanders.. Smiley Happy

But I think my wifi problem can be repaired by

Manage Connection-WiFi Option-select my network name-edit- uncheck "Automatically obtain IP address and DNS"

and edit values in my Primary DNS and Secondary DNS with the same values in my Preferred DNS Server (8.8.8.8) and Alternate DNS Server (8.8.4.4) that are set in my OS Windows 7

But of course it still can connect to internet due to it stil has problems..

If we  uncheck "Automatically obtain IP address and DNS", we should also set values for IP Address, Subnet mask, Default gateway address, and something I've never heard:domain suffix...

So, can  IP Address, Subnet mask, Default gateway address, and Domain Suffix be set to something like "Obtain an IP address automatically" sir? Smiley Very Happy

Re: No Data Plan - Connected to Wi-Fi but No Internet Access?

Good day. I have exactly the same problem with my Bold 9700 - able to connect to Starbucks wifi hotspot and even a Q10 Blackberry hotspot, but when connected to my home wifi it just won't access the Internet. I pinged my wifi gateway via my Bold and get no response. I changed my wifi to open, wep and wpk, all to no avail. Do you or anyone has a solution on this?

have you tried restarting your Wifi hub?
otherwise, check its documentation.
