No Internet on Bold 9700

I have just received advice on how to sort out my stray icons which was very successfull, now I've suddenly got a problem with the internet. I've read all the previous posts and solutions but none seem to work for me. The Service Status says: BB Internet Service Connect'n: Mobile Network, BB Ent. Server, not connected, all else ok. Diagnostics says: BB Regis. Yes, BB Connect Yes, ICMP Ping echo Yes, BB PIN-PIN Yes, Radio Data Activ. Yes. The Mobile Network says Data Services 'ON'

When I try to access an item on the internet I get the message 'HTTP Error 504 Gateway Timeout'.

I did a battery pull and got a strange message 'Uncaught Exeption UUID must be 36 characters long' whilst the phone was booting. Everything seemed ok except there was still no internet. Can you help me sort out this mess ??

Hello!!

With a strong carrier signal (not WiFi), I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):

1) Register HRT

  • KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
  • Please wait for one "registration" message to arrive to your Messages app

2) Resend Service Books

  • KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
  • Please wait for "Activation" Messages, one per already configured email account, to arrive in your Messages. If you have no already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.

3) Batt Pull Reboot

  • With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.

Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then you should contact your mobile service provider for formal support.

Good luck!

Thanks for your suggestions but I tried all of that and nothing has changed.  I still get HTTP error 504 Gateway timeout and the message 'Uncaught exception UUID must be 36 characters long' when I reboot.

Looks like I will have to go to my provider (Optus)

Amendment : The email is working OK. Access to the web is not and results in the Gateway Timeout..

Re: No Internet on Bold 9700

Well that is interesting...and you definitely then should talk to your provider. They may have (intentionally or inadvertently) shifted you to a plan that still includes email yet disables web browsing. Or, there may be a problem with their network. In any event, only they can look "behind the scenes" to investigate.

Good luck!
