No email after update

I updated my Bold 9650 from Verizon last night.  Today I am unable to validate an email address that worked fine before.  It is also not possible to delete or add email accounts.  I went by the Verizon store and asked for help.  They said nothing could be done and that engineers were working on the problem.

 

This is unacceptable.  What's going on?

I've helped quite a few users today with this issue, also on Verizon.

 

Things you should try:

 

1) Register HRT:   (OS5) Homescreen > Options > Advanced Options > Host Routing Table > Scoll to any line entry and > press the Menu key  > and then click Register Now. If you have an OS 6 or OS 7 device, Look at Options > Device > Advanced > Host Routing Table, etc.

2) Resend Service Books:   KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service

3) Then, with the BlackBerry device POWERED ON, remove the battery for a minute, and then reinsert the battery to reboot. A reboot in this manner is prescribed for most glitches and operating system errors, and you will lose no data on the device doing this.

 

And, if that doesn't get your email flowing or email setup icon working... try this:

Please try this, using your BlackBerry browser...

• Go to mobile.blackberry.com
• Scroll down to Communication and then to Email.
• Choose the appropriate email set up options.

I/ve no idea what HRT or Service Books means.  I've never had to do any of this before.  Why now?  It just worked before.  How is this an upgrade?

Right. I'm sure you don't, and you shouldn't need to know.

But as you read my instructions they clearly outline what you need to do and in doing so you will learn what HRT and Service Books mean, how to find them and what to do. It's not complicated.

 

Follow the instructions.

Sorry.

 

Since Verizon can't do it, and I'm not there to do it... you might be the last man standing.

 

The last step I mentioned (mobile.blackberry.com) may take you five minutes.

Try that first.

OK -- it worked and I'm really grateful for your help.

 

In the end, though, I'm really disappointed with BlackBerry.  RIM is already in trouble and this won't help them.
