Re: OS factory question

What you meant by a naked blackberry is that you bought a BB from a phone shop??

well, you can simply go in to Options > Device > About Device Version

Re: OS factory question

Thanks darocker077,

Yes, I bought a BB from an online shop.

The OS was updated from 7.0 to 7.1 with a service provider version, so, from now I could not find what was the original one.

Re: OS factory question

Well I can't be so sure about it.. Anyhow, BB 9790 comes up with a 7.0 OS version I guess but I've no idea about the bundle or the platform which were at the intial purchase..  Below link will only show you the operator based software release for the devices.. may be you can get an idea of it

Re: OS factory question

Yes, it was a 7.0 initialy, but I guess a "generic" one.

I wonder what was the RIM bundle put on preloaded terminal , since that it works with all service provider whithout update.

Thanks

What do you mean by "generic"?

All BlackBerry OS releases are released by mobile providers, if you only wish to remove any bloatware, delete the vendor.xml file before manually installed an upgraded OS.

Do you need help with a manual OS install?

Re: OS factory question

Hi J Sanders,

Well, I meant it was usable with any provider, since I didn't buy it from a mobile provider.

I had an iphone.

I put my SIM on the BB, I suscribed bb option, and it worked with the 7.0 preloaded on it, without any update.

My service provider didn't know what kind of terminal I was using since I didn't buy it from them.

So, I think that there is a "standard" or "generic" OS version on BB.

If you see from download link , they say "If you did not purchase your BlackBerry® smartphone directly from Research In Motion (RIM)....",  so, it is like I bought mine directly from RIM.

Sorry for my poor english, (I am french)  I hope that you understand what I mean.

Re: OS factory question

I actuality, there really are no "unbranded" or generic devices. Very few, at least.

On your homescreen, hold down the Alt key + the lower right shift key and the H key. The HelpMe! screen will appear.

What is the Vendor ID there?
