My phone has been stuck on the update screen for 6 hours and its stayed at 11%. I need my phone and have tried turning it off and taking the battery out, even plugging it into my pc, but nothing is working.

Can someone send me in the right direction please?

Did it freeze while making a back up, or on the update itself?
It froze when backing up before updating to 7.1 all the time when I updated just recently. I just pulled out the battery and tried again. I also deleted the social feeds app, cuz that's where it froze. I tried 5-6 times before this but now I'm on 7.1 and nothing is wrong!

yeah, on the social feeds bit! how do i delete the social feeds app when i cant get onto my phone? everytime i take the battery out it tries doing the backup again.

To be honest I don't really remember what actually did the trick for me, but try pulling out the battery if it starts the same upgrading/back-up process, and leave it out for a couple of minutes before putting it back in. I just tried everything I could think of, I tried atleast 5-6 times before I got it. You should also try pulling out the battery while phone is still connected to your computer, and while still connected put the battery back in.
I'm sorry I can't help you better, hopefully some smart people will see our posts and come up with a quicker solution!
