Problem Syncing Outlook Contacts to BB Bold 9780

A couple weeks ago, when I started to sync my Outlook Contacts to my BB, a message window popped up informing me that RIM is not longer using the same method to do that.  Ever since, I have been unable to successfully complete a sync. 

 

When I start a sync, first it says "Getting status information from BB Address Book" and reads all the records quickly, then it says "Getting status information from Outlook Contacts" and reads all the records quickly. After that, it say "Getting status information from Outlook Contacts", but underneath that is says "Read 1 Record", then "Read 2 records", etc as it counts the records.  It does this extremely slowly, like it takes 20 minutes to read 50 records and I have 1900 records. 

 

I called T-Mobile,  They could not help me. 

I uninstalled and reinstalled the Desktop Software.  I updated the BB software. Neither of these helped. 

Last night, I left my BB hooked up to the PC overnight to see if it would complete them all.  In the morning, the BB Desktop Software had closed and the contacts were not successfully synced.

 

Help!  I need the contacts in my phone.

It starts with a process for cleanly starting over, and there is some discussion, and there is also a post (15) with links to older Desktop Software versions, if those are needed. Note that this is not, by any means, guaranteed to work...but it has worked for many to resolve issues they are having.

Thanks very much.  I read the post you recommended, but have already done what it said to do without a positive result.  Any other ideas from anyone?

Oh, sorry about that...from what you posted, I did not surmise that you had actually done all that procedure goes through. Apologies for giving you redundant advice.

But, did you try falling back to a prior version of the Desktop Software, as Post 15 in that thread recommends? I can't quite tell if you did or did not try that particular remedy...

Hi - My mistke - I should have mentioned that in my post - Yes, I did try the things mentioned in the posts above but no luck. It takes for ever at the last stage (whether syncing calendar or contacts) while syncing... - I have some 3000+ contacts

OK...so you carefully followed the instructions in the other thread and did a clean removal and restart with the current desktop software, and it made no difference. Did you do the optional steps in that procedure? Or did you skip those? Did you also try the prior versions of the Desktop Software?

Hi - I am the one that posted the problem to begin with.  I found the orignal CD that came with the phone and installed the older version 6.0 of the BB Desktop software.  My Outlook Contacts now sync just fine, like they did before.  This seems to have solved the problem.  Perhaps the other person with the same problem can do the same.  The other thread has a link to former versions of the software, but I was hesitant to use it because it said it was for Verizon and I have T-Mobile, but if I wouldn't have found my old CD, I would have given that a try.  I just mention this in case you don't have the CD.  Thanks so much to those that helped and best of luck to others with this issue.
