(Moderators, please sticky this so others can find it again).
There are two ways of fixing this issue. People have found either to work....
or
If neither of thes esolutions work for you then chances are that your device will ned an OS reload/upgrade.
If this still doesnt work then you will need to contact your carrier for a replacement handset.
Please note: this is the solution for all BOLD's with No or Low Sound issues.
If you have an issue where the device works normally for all sounds, except the one you want to use, then make a seperate post.
If you have an issue where the device works on speakerphone bu tnot nromally, then try this post too...
