Hi what does it mean when the BES is not connected?
I have this problem for a colleague and he can not send or receive emails.
some info:
model: bb 9700
carrier: t-mobile uk
location: italy
locally connected carrier: t-mobile
the device is configured to use BES for work email.
when i tried to re-activate the device he got the message - activation request failed - a service connection is unavailable. I presume this is caused by the BES service being in a not connected state.
can anyone offer help as to how i can get this connected again.
have tried battery pull and restart, set to use 2g only network.

Your friend should contact his BESAdmin.
Under Manage Connections on the device (Most of OS 5), there's a services status which tells if connected to the data network.
Can also try to to reset HRT
On the handset, go to:
Options - Advanced Options - Host Routing Table
and click Register now, and escape back to the home page.
Wait 5 minutes.
Then go to Options - Advanced options.
Do you have the Option Enterprise Activation?

yes, there's option to enterprise activation, but it says activation failed, a service connection was unavailable when we try to do it.
also tried the HRT, but no "Registration" message was received by the device like i would normally expect.
i then understand it that, BES: connection: not connected means he is not connected to the data network???

I've got it working.
Just go to manage connections>turn of all connections the restore all connections.
