Syncrhonizing with my computer

I have loaded up the Blackberry destop manager on my computer.  In trying to reconcile e-mails between my BB Bold and my desktop, the option to reconcile is greyed out in the Blackberry desktop manager.  How do I get the reconcilation process to work?

Re: Syncrhonizing with my computer

If you have a BIS data plan you can't.

The only way to sync mails is under BES, (any exchange server).

Re: Syncrhonizing with my computer

What do you mean by BES, (any exchange server)?  I am trying to reconcile my work e-mail, which I assume comes through some sort of exchange server.  Does it have to be BES, or will any exchange server work?  thanks.

Re: Syncrhonizing with my computer

BIS - BlackBerry Internet Service = email service provided by the respective carrier; T-Mobile, AT&T, Verizon, Rogers, etc, etc...

BES - BlackBerry Enterprise Server = email service provided by a server ran by a company. For example by your employer...
With BIS you can't reconcile your mail
With BES yes, you can.

Re: Syncrhonizing with my computer

Finally, an explanation.  No one at work can explain this.  We are all under the impression that BES is a blackberry service one must purchase.  No one has related this to any exchange server.  How does one go about re-confguring the Blackberry destop manager to set itself up as BES?  What information from our corporate email system is required to set up the BES option in the BB desktop manager?

Thanks for your help.

Re: Syncrhonizing with my computer

Let me explain something, maybe your company have a server, but maybe is not a Exchange Server.

you need to buy a exchange server, or there are a lot of companys offering the service, you can make a simple search in google typing exchange server for blackberry.

But the connection is over the air between the devices (yours and yours co-workers) and the server, is not with the Desktop Manager.

Re: Syncrhonizing with my computer

Well, now I am confused.  When you say an exchange server, do you mean something like Microsoft exchange server, or something else?
