Turn off E-mail notifications

Hi all,

I have a blackberry bold 9900 phone that I have received from work,

however I am tired of e-mails popping up on my phone when I am at home.

So I was wondering if it is possible to

1) Is it possible to turn off the function that shows a new notification (e-mail) in the top menu. So the little small bar on top of the screen which shows if I received a new e-mail - not showing a new e-mail

2) Turn off so the e-mail application on the "main screen" does not show a new e-mail

3) The two above functions but while the phone still receives e-mail - so I can go into the e-mail application if I would like to see my e-mails

I just don´t want them to be forced on me by a notification

Thankful for all advice

Best Regards

Karl Bergström

Re: Turn off E-mail notifications

Hey kalle444,

Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.

Thanks for the question.

You can change settings to not show new message indicator and message count.  Go into Messages and press Menu and then Options.  Open Message Display and Actions and change the settings for Display Message Count and Display New Message Indicator.

If you want to completely stop delivery of email, you can disable data services in the Mobile Network settings or delete the email service book.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

Cheers

Re: Turn off E-mail notifications

Hi ViciousFerret,

Thank you for your help

Following your instruction I get ride of the number count of hom many e-mails I have - which is a huge help.

However, it still show on the app and in the top bar that I have a new e-mail. Is there a way to hide this as well?

or is the only solution to disable data services in the Mobile Network settings or delete the email service book?

Best Regards

Karl

Re: Turn off E-mail notifications

Hey Kalle444,

Thanks for the reply.

The notification bar will still appear, unless you remove the service book or disable your data services.  Once you enable the data services all the emails that were pending would come down to the phone.

Please note: disabling data services means you can not use the browser, any applications that require a data connection.  You can still send SMS messages and use the phone.
