Hi guys,

I just got my Bold yesterday, still learning how to use it. I have downloaded the Gmail and Windows Live Messenger applications to my Bold, but when I try to connect to the internet, I get an error message saying that "data services unavailable". I do not have internet connection with my service provider, I have that completely blocked off. However, my Bold is connected to my home WiFi network when I tried running those applications.

Any ideas on why I cannot connect to those applications using my WiFi network?

You can't, you need any Blackberry Data Plan to run applications on the device, only with the WiFi you can't sorry.

What about the Curve 8900 Javelin? Is it the same case as the Bold?

Is not a device problem, without the blackberry device you can't, again is not the device

Actually you CAN access Gmail, MSN, Facebook, Twitter and more.

I have a post in my blog where I go over the list of apps that work over Wi-Fi.

I do not have a data plan in my Blackberry, I only use Wi-Fi.
