Uncaught Exception on reboot

Hi All,

I keep getting the following error after doing a reset on my device: uncaught exception "a browser content provider for video/3gpp MIME type has already been registered".

I have uninstalled ubertwitter, shazam and all the themes I have downloaded and installed recently and I still receive the same error.

I cannot play any music or videos on my phone now :smileysad:

Please help!!!!

Re: Uncaught Exception on reboot

Hey Guji,

Sounds like software issue. You are going to want to complete a clean reload of the device software as shown here: http://bbry.lv/cG8oer

Use these articles to backup and restore your device. Here is how to backup http://bit.ly/aSediX, here is how to restore http://bit.ly/bSbfl3. I would suggest testing before you restore your data.

Let us know how you make out and if you need an further assistance.

Re: Uncaught Exception on reboot

Problem resolved.  I cleared all the apps installed on my phone and when re-installing found that it was WhatsApp causing the problem.  Sent a quick mail to them and they responded with the following: "we have been informed by RIM that this is an OS bug which was fixed in OS 5.0.0.838 or newer" ... upgraded to the newer OS installed my apps and all was fine. :smileyhappy:

Hi

I have the same problem with bold 9700.

I do backup but when I want to update with the blackberry dektop application it does not allow me to select alternative versions.

I used desktop software 6.0.xx.

Re: Uncaught Exception on reboot

Problem resolved. Bug in blackberry OS
It seems there are two apps where this issue becomes a problem "Whatsap" and "Ubertwitter" if you have OS 5.0.0.838 or older installed on the blackberry

Fix: upgrade blackberry os to latest version or at least newer than os 5.0.0.838

It must be noted that it does not seem to be the 'fault' of the apps but rather a bug in RIM's OS

info from another poster""
Sent a quick mail to them and they responded with the following: "we have been informed by RIM that this is an OS bug which was fixed in OS 5.0.0.838 or newer" ... upgraded to the newer OS installed my apps and all was fine""
