Unplugging BlackBerry from computer USB.

Do I have to click on the safely remove hardware icon and safely remove the USB Mass Storage device from the computer everytime I need to unplug my BB from the computer or can I just unplug it without clicking anything?

I've never bothered with the safely remove hardware item. But it probably can't hurt either.
