Volume Issue

Hi everyone,

I'm having this very annoying issue with the volume on my 9900. Basically my volume sounds like its twice as loud as it should be. This is happening with headphones, the speaker, and handset speaker. The sound coming out is very scratchy, and increasing the volume past half way creates a loud static sound. Its not limited to just the media player, any sound gives the same problem; the alarm, notifications etc. What bugs me the most is that it seems to fix itself for a few days before happening again, which makes me think its not a hardware issue. I've tried battery pulls, reinstalled the os, but its still happening. Any suggestions on what to do?

I would suggest performing a backup of your BlackBerry® smartphone then reloading the software as shown in the article below:

I did a fresh os install, but same problem. The only difference in the past few days is that rather than the problem happening every once in a while, it seems to be permanent now.

Just to give you an idea of how bad it is, the sound coming from the handset at minimun volume is as loud as the speaker would normally be. Again, I don't believe its hardware because what are the odds of all 3 speakers messing up?

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

When you did the software reload, did you test it before reinstalling any of your applications?

Yes. As a matter of fact, I know it failed because as soon as the intro video plays the volume issue is apparent.
