Can anyone help?
I accidentally dropped my Bold 9790 in water for a few seconds, took it apart at once and dried it out slowly in the airing cupboard for two days. After a bit of fiddling everything seems to work except (a) the touch-screen and (b) the phone turns off whenever I answer a call.
Help on either problem would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Check the below post -
It might happen that the hardware is damaged due water. In that case you have to consider having a new one. However, you can take device to device repair shop.

OK - I'll put it back in the airing cupboard for a couple more days...

That's probably not enough. Place the device, battery out, in a box or bag of dry white rice, for 3-5 days.
