Hello!

Have had my Blackberry 9700 scince it come  out on the orange network in the uk.

Cant fault its 3G performance, its been brilliant on 3G.

But, the phone has so many problems, of which im sure are software related, but considering the phone is surposed to be the be all and end all of communication devices, its not very good at letting you know if you have new email or SMS?

Sometimes, if I get email, it will chime and flash its red light, sometimes it wont do one or the other or both!

Have yet to read a SMS without having to take the battery off first to reload the phone before I can read a SMS as I get a java error if I go to open a SMS.

Their the main problems that are driving me insane at the moment, cant seem to find any help at, orange are of no use nor ornament so im at a loss.

Very close to listing on ebay or swopping for a nokia....

My current software is v5.0.0.351 platform 5.1.0.98

Have tried wireless updates, and online updates and says no updates available.

Would be gratefull for any help and advice.

Hi I got the 9700 on orange with the same version u mention i.e... Software is v5.0.0.351 platform 5.1.0.98 But I don't have the problems u say u have ???? ........ What sound profile are u using ? I myself made two one for work and one for home u can just about create any thing u want ...... Maybe the preinstalled ones are not for u  ....... But IM know expert just fort it might be worth a try ?

I think I have a friday afternoon Jobby! Have not installed anything on the phone ie apps or anything, just the basic out of the box phone.

The only profile I am using is normal, so cant say I have gone in and tweaked with anything, to bo honest, a lot of it seems to be all bells and whistles but with little effect / use to the owner.

Just never had a phone like it in my life. One moment it will do what it should do like let me know I have a new email and flash its red light, then later on, it wont even do anything and ill look and have 4 new emails even though I cleared my last new email about so that the light would go green.

Its just mad, just cant get my head around it.

Im really not loving my first Blackberry Experience so far......
