activation required

i just bought a bb bold 9650 from sprint which is unlocked and switched the carrier but i cant access bb services but still can make and receieve calls and texts. at the top also says activation required. what do i do?

I am having a similar issue.  I have a BB Bold 9650 that was used on Alltel in North Dakota.  My buddy gave me the phone and I brought it to Manitoba but when I went to hook it up they said all that will work is the calling, and the sms text messaging.  They can't get that data to work.  I know the phone is unlocked and I am positive there is a way to get it to work!

 

Do I have to change a bunch of settings? The people in the store don't seem to have a hot clue about what to do.  I spoke to someone in tech support and they said that the phone has a CDMA antenna but that I should set the phone up to work on the HSPA 3G network.  How do I do that? I assume I have to change some settings!

So I am trying to figure things out and I went into options, mobile network, and next to the Mobile Network: it says Alltel, so I go down to Network Type, and I switch it from Global, to GSM/UMTS and the Mobile Network automatically changes to Rogers Wireless. 

 

Does this mean it would work now? Am I on the right track? What else do I have to do?

 

Any help would be great!

that i cant help u with since we got the same issue. cuz im in the caribbean it shows my number as 0000007172 while my number is different and peopple see the other number when i call not this one which i see on the phone. it is just that the blackberry services doesnt activate. it says your device is incompatible with this service plan. Atm i get info from technicians on this site and i spent to buy phone and cant use it which sucks.

Please I got an unlocked bold 9650 sprint and its showing activation required, I was told I needed d msl code 2 fix it, bt I tried d procedures and it was saying invalid. Wat do I do please sm1 shuld help
