BB Bold 9900 does has a poor battery life. Mine also dies within 10-12 hours but not during sleep, I use a lot.
In your case, did you see, some application may be constantly using data network, wifi or blue tooth, all these used continuously will drain the battery. Switch off your data profile, wifi and bluetooth and see, if that improves.
