bb9900 os update

What are the risks of updating bb os. Say mine is 2061 and I want to update to 2230 from a different carrier. And are there any differences between these updates and if they are there, what are they?

Re: bb9900 os update

Hello,

Sadly, OS release notes are the responsibility of the carrier to reveal, and most of them are rather lax at doing so. It may be possible for someone to know something specific about a specific OS level, but from your samples, no one can tell anything. OS levels are 4 octets long, not just one...and so you need to reveal the details if anyone is to have a hope of providing you with what you desire (if indeed anyone even has what the carriers have not even revealed).

In general, a newer OS level is better since it usually includes fixes to things that were buggy in older versions. But, it is also possible for some new issue to appear in a newer version. But, again, with only sketchy details from you, it's impossible to even guess.

Good luck!

Re: bb9900 os update

This is my current OS;
7.1 Bundle 2061 (v7.1.0.714, Platform 5.1.0.532_SK_Telecom)
I want to update it using this software; 9900jAllLang_PBr7.1.0_rel2218_PL5.1.0.571_A7.1.0.794_SK_Telecom_.exe
Is it a good idea?

Re: bb9900 os update

Dunno...maybe, maybe not. But, what I fund curious is why you would make such a small change...at a quick glance, I see that some carriers are all the way on 7.1.0.1033 (maybe further...all I took was a quick glance), quite a bit further along than 7.1.0.794. Refer:

As for your question ("Is it a good idea?"), only you can answer that question...only you can evaluate the information available and decide if it meets your specific combination of needs, desires, and tolerance levels. Only you can judge "good" for you.

Good luck!
