Re: blackberry ID username defunct

You will have a new Protect account with the new BlackBerryID.

Do you need to access the OLD Protect account for some reason?

Re: blackberry ID username defunct

Hi,

Apologies for delay, been without wifi for a few days. Did as you suggested but it still holds my existing bb ID info. I changed the user name to the new one but it then asks for the old password before it lets me change that! (but of course I dont have that and can't get them to send me a new one because the email account is defunct.

Re: blackberry ID username defunct

Oh sorry, you must first perform a security wipe on the device.

Backup first, using your Desktop Software.

For BlackBerry smartphones running BlackBerry 6.0 to 7.1

  1. From the Home screen of the BlackBerry smartphone, click Options > Security > Security Wipe.
  2. Select the appropriate check boxes to remove data and applications as intended.
  3. Type blackberry, and click Wipe Data

Then you will login with your new BBID

And you will then use the Desktop software to restore your settings AFTER the new BBID has been logged.

Re: blackberry ID username defunct

Hi,
Thanks, will do. How much will I lose? I sync contacts, calendar, tasks. Will Password Keeper and other apps be okay? (fore example just downloaded a BA boarding pass - will that be okay?)

Re: blackberry ID username defunct

You'll have to download all the apps again, you'll lose any paid apps and have to repurchase them.

Backup your device FIRST before wiping. You can restore all your calendar and contacts and preference, etc., by restoring the backup. But you will still lose any third party apps and app data in THOSE apps.

Re: blackberry ID username defunct

Hi,

Just had a quick look to see how to do it. Has the option to delete emails, contacts etc. as one tick box and User Installed Apps as another. Do I have to include both of those?
