blackberry bold 9700 keeps going to sos every 5 minutes

just got a black berry bold 9700 and as soon as I turned it on it keeps going to sos mode and will go in and out of service every 5 mintues. is there anything that i can do to fix this or do i need to send it back in

Have you tried that SIM on another device to see if the problem is within that SIM card , Or you can Refer to this Knowledge Base:

 

KB03448 : Network status indicator shows " SOS " on the BlackBerry smartphone
