blackberry bold 9900 turns off by itself

I have been using a blackberry bold 9900 since almost a year now. I have never faced any problem with it before. But since last 1 month, my device switches/turns off by itself. Sometimes it turns off while I am using it, and sometimes when i remove it from the cover(holster), i find that it is turned off. the auto on/off feature is not enabled. this problem was very rare earlier, but since last few days, it turns off many times a day. I have the latest software update and few days ago, i again re-installed the device software. But it did not help. Below are the details of my device

Blackberry Bold 9900 (3G,Wi-Fi)

7.1 Bundle 1646 (v7.1.0.523, Platform 5.1.0.393)

Free Memory: 132554186

subscribed to BIS and have set up four email accounts.

Your kind help will be highly appreciated.

Re: blackberry bold 9900 turns off by itself

Have you a month ago installed any new third party applications?

Can you try this: remove the media card for a couple of days and see if the issue persists?

Also, you can try placing a cut business card (or a folded sheet of normal paper) over the battery and replacing the battery door.

No, I have not installed a new application in last 3-4 months. Also, I have a very limited number of applications installed.

Re: blackberry bold 9900 turns off by itself

Hi, i think i have same issue with infinite loop of rebooting.

I found a solution.

At first maybe the reason of infinite loop is different than mine, i dont know. Here is the solution for my problem.

At first you have to wait until the battery almost down, the battery icon is red, and you may hear beep after reboot.

When the battery reach almost the final stage, the telephone switch off the radio module (gsm+3g) by itself. At this point (the battery almost empty), the telefone stops the infinite loop. Than you have to got to the radio settings, and switch the radio type to 2G only.

After this you can do everything like before but the 3G will not working anymore.

I think it is a softvare fault/bug, and Blackberry should/have to/must correct it!!!!

THERE is a lot of telephone fighting with that kind of infinite reboot loop, and that is why the customers turn away from blackberry!!! I am very angry, because no support, no answer, almlst nothing.

With my solution i can use may mobile, but without 3G only.

Re: blackberry bold 9900 turns off by itself

[ Edited ]

Hello everyone.

I'm facing the same issue with my BB 9900.

It started happening about a week or two after I upgraded  from 7.1.0.714 to 7.1.0.1033.

At first I thought it was a battery problem, becasue when I tried to take a photo or surf the web, the battery level decreased from 90 to 10 percent in few minutes. So i bought a brand new, genuine battery and... the problem persisted.

After that I did a factory reset, wiped the phone and downgraded back to .714. Unfortunately, this also didn't solve the problem.

Now i applied @webalix fix - switched from 3g to 2g and it finally seems to fix the problem.

UPDATE: it did not!

WTF, RIM?! My phone & internet connection are my primary business tools. What more can I do to fix this issue?

UPDATE2: in safe mode it happens too.

It works like a charm when phone is connected to a charger.

Re: blackberry bold 9900 turns off by itself

What is happening is that your on-device battery meter is off-sync with the actual battery charge. Connect to your OEM wall outlet battery charger and while still connected and powered on, remove the battery a minute to reboot. After reboot leave to fully charge to 100%.
Thus will reset the false charge reading. You may need to do perform this procedure 2-3 times.

Re: blackberry bold 9900 turns off by itself

Hi JSanders, thanks for reply. I'll try this, but i have one question: at the beginning (before I pull out the battery), the battery must be fully charged or not?
