bold 9780 homescreen preferences issue

Hi,

I am unable to go into the Home Screen Preferences.  I am able to get into Display Options but when I click on Home Screen Preferences it flashes and go back to the Display Option list.
 HELP!

Re: bold 9780 homescreen preferences issue

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.

Best!

Re: bold 9780 homescreen preferences issue

OK...so, have you ever been able to get to these things? If so, what changed just BEFORE this behavior started? A new app? An update? A Theme? Think carefully as the tiniest thing could be causal...and undo whatever it was to see if that cures the situation.

If you've never been able to get into this, then we have much more hard work to do...

Good luck and let us know!

Re: bold 9780 homescreen preferences issue

It worked when I first got the phone, but honestly don't know when it started. I only ever used it to change the wallpaper back to the enabled theme, from on of my own pictures. I have not put a pic on for my wallpaper for a year and just have now. When I went to changew it back it flashed. So it could be up to a year, and many apps have been added since then....oh boy I am not good at figuring these things out :smileysurprised:(

Re: bold 9780 homescreen preferences issue

Try removing any add-on Themes and going just to the default Theme. I don't know what that would be called on yours, but hopefully the Theme names it shows you on your BB will guide you well enough.

Re: bold 9780 homescreen preferences issue

Will I have to pay again for the themes I purchased?

Re: bold 9780 homescreen preferences issue

If you purchased them via AppWorld, then AW retains record of your purchases so that you can obtain them again without additional payment. If you purchased them elsewhere, then that "elsewhere" governs the transaction.

Re: bold 9780 homescreen preferences issue

Thank you...I deleted all themes but one that was custom made for me and there is no copy. Turns out it is that theme causing it. When I changed to the default theme the home screen preferences worked. Thanks so much for your help
