bold 9780 keeps on rebooting.

Phone keeps on rebooting. Have removed the battery many times. Can't download from balckberry desktop software.

 

Shouyld I download software from blackberry site.

 

Have tried many suggestions but nothing works.

Unfortunately, saying that you tried many things that did not work actually gives us nothing useful...unless you list all that you tried, you will be subject to redundant advice.

Nevertheless, I'll take that risk...I recommend that you attempt to boot into Safe Mode:

  • KB17877 How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in Safe Mode

It may take you multiple attempts to get the ESC key sequence (press/release/hold) correct, so be patient. When successfully into Safe Mode, think carefully...what happened just before this behavior started? A new app? An update? A Theme? Something else? Think carefully as the smallest change could be causal...and attempt to undo whatever that was.

Your suggestion is highly appreciated.

 

My case is as follows.

 

I am using BB since 4 yrs from curve to bold 5 ... The usage being pleasurable until dis october.

 

My BB9790 started restarting again n again untill battery drained. I used a new battery, But in vain. 

Tried the upgrade (no use ).. Then Downgrade (no use) 

Wiped the whole data ...

used widout memory card...

Still restartng....

Sent my BB 9790 to sevice centre, Will be getting it today.

..........................

 

Now my concern is 

 

since 2 weeks m using bold9780....

untill now it was working allryt...

since 4-5 days .... same issues wat i had with my BB9790..

tried all possible things mentioned above...

Still restart....

......

Thank you for the details...those are most helpful indeed. Sadly, I deduce that only a tedious process will help you root out the culprit of your issues:

 

  1. Load your OS "bare bones"...if anything is optional, do not install it.
  2. If the behavior presents immediately, then try a different OS with step 1
  3. If the behavior does not immediately present, then run for as long as it takes for you to be sure that the behavior will not present.
  4. Add one thing -- no matter how tempting, just one.
  5. If the behavior does not present immediately, then again run for long enough to be sure it will not have the same problem
  6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 until all things are loaded or the behavior presents

When the behavior presents, you know the culprit...the last thing you loaded.

If the behavior does not re-present, then you know that either step 1 or 2 cured it.

If the behavior presents no matter what, then you likely have a hardware level issue for which no amount of OS or software can cure.

When you perform an OS reload via PC (either Desktop Software or LOADER.EXE), you are presented with a screen with check/tick boxes for different things to install (e.g., languages, add-on apps, etc.). By "bare bones", I mean that none of those are checked/ticked when you load the OS...anything that you can make a check/tick mark is optional, and should be left off at that initial OS loading.

So, yes it is quite tedious indeed...
