bold 9900 keypad backlight won't work even in the dark

Some days ago the backlight of the keyboard of my bold 9900 is turned off I thought it was the battery that was very low but it was not and I took the battery many times but did not work and I need some help I can do
?

Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.

 

Thanks for the question.

 

The backlight gets triggered from the sensor close to the top of the BlackBerry Bold 9900 smartphone.  If you put your hand over the top of the screen, do you see the keypad lighting up when the screen is up?

 

Also what version of BlackBerry device software are you running?  Type myver in a message to get this info.

Even if I put my hand over the sensor the keypad backlight won't work , the OS I'm using now its 7.1 OS
