Hi - I've been having the Exact same problem with MTN South Africa , This definitaley seems to be a MTN realted Issue with the 9780. Also, Download speeds are extremely slow even with a Full coverage on 3G it struggels to reach downloads speeds of 30Kbs .. Kindly advise if there's any solution to this problem before I through my phone in the Dumb ??

I queried this Issue before and got No response - Please could someone advise of any solutions to this prob ??!! I honestly hate my 9780 due this problem ...

@ dacutie , If you're still having problems with downloading , Let me know - I've managed to sort mine out and it definitely seems to be a problem with MTN handsets in Africa.

Try the following on your handset and see if this would help:

- Select ' Options ' in the menu ( Tool Icon )
- Go Into ' Device ' and scroll down and select ' Advanced System Settings '
- Then scroll down and select ' TCP IP ' and ensure that ' APN settings Enabled ' is ticked and the other 2 options should remain unticked.
- Then go back and select ' Host Routing Table ' , Then press options and select ' Register Now '

Once you have done the following , I suggest you contact your Carrier and request them to refresh your number off their system.

- After doing that , do a HARD REBOOT by removing your device battery without switching your phone off.

Sorry for not mentioning this , But also check the following settings. I'm aware of some download issues on the OS6 (South African networks ) , However , This might solve the problem, No guarantees that it will , but its worth the try ;-)

- In your Main ' Menu ' scroll to Options ( Tool Icon )
- In Options, scroll down and select ' Security '
- Then scroll and select ' Advanced Security Settings '
- Under the Advanced Security Settings menu , scroll down and Select ' TLS '
- Ensure that both ' Permit blocks ' are ' Ticked '
- Encryption Strength should be set on ' Allow Weak '
- Digest Strength should also be set on ' Allow Weak '
- Leave the rest as is as and ' Save Settings '

After doing this - Try the settings above and Reboot your phone by removing the Battery while the phone is still on.

Kindly advise if this works and don't forget to' Kudo'
