Re: can you turn of notification tones?

Yes, in your Profile settings, set your SMS notifications to silent.

Re: can you turn of notification tones?

Hi.
I don't mean the notification to say I have received an SMS.
I mean, I sent an SMS, and then it going "bing" and tells me what credit is left.

I want to turn that specific audio down or off.

Re: can you turn of notification tones?

Right. That notification is sent by your mobile provider, and comes to you as an SMS or a form of SMS.

Are you on a pay as you go SMS account?

If muting your SMS notifications doesn't mute that tone, call and ask your mobile provider what to do, because at that point, it's up to them and not a setting on your BlackBerry, obviously.

Re: can you turn of notification tones?

It doesn't tell you by SMS - it just comes up as a sort of "popup". I want to know, as it keeps you informed. But I want to mute the sound, and I don't think the Carrier has anythign to do wtih the audio on my phone for "warnings/alerts" like that.

My 8520 I think had a similar alert, but it was nothing like as loud. And if it is down to volume, I don't know how to "test" what the volume is of that alert.

Sorry, you're wrong about that.

Have you even tried what I first suggested or just brushing it off as wrong?

Tried a silent or vibrate setting?

And, that is a response from the carrier sent by SMS, It's just not one you can read. It's audible only.

Re: can you turn of notification tones?

If I set SMS Notifications to Silent, would it not make incoming SMSs silent too? so I wouldn't hear if my friend sent me an SMS?

Only brushing it off, because i fear that this would be the result.

Re: can you turn of notification tones?

Oh my, why not try AND see? All you have to do is reverse the setting IF you don't want it or like it.

It's called troubleshooting and narrowing down the acceptable options.

Re: can you turn of notification tones?

I just read that your option on the carrier doing it is probably bang on.
Changing the option of SMS to Silent..... it did set an sms to come in as silent - just as I expected it to.

It's the "Balance alert sound" that's the problem. Will contact carrier.
