changing my device password

hi,

I  have a bold 9700. How do I go about changing my device password.   Without this I am unable to connect to my desktop and update my phone.

From your description, it is this user-controlled device lock password that you are asking about. But, your post confuses me a bit...for it's the exact same password you must enter when you connect to your PC. Is that not working perhaps? Or do you truly not know your device lock password?
