chinese language pack

hello, I have a BB bold 9900, bought in Italy, I tried to install the chinese simplifed pack from the bb  desktop software but still, doesn't show the language in the options when i want to type something (email, text, notes) even if it's correctly installed as it says the software. I already ask several shop it seems a common problem with this phone... they told me to wait bb updates but it has been a year already. thank you!

Re: chinese language pack

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

Please start here:

  • KB05305Localization support for BlackBerry smartphones

Language availability on the device is a multi step process:

  1. Download the proper (per that KB) OS package
  2. Install that OS package to the BB, ensuring to include all selection items related to that language (there will be multiple)
  3. Activate the language on the BB

It is possible that there are many issues with what you have tried, but I cannot tell what those might be given the limited information you provided. So, please review this information and see if it helps.

You also can attempt to use OS packages from any carrier as long as you use the trick of deleting the VENDOR.XML file(s) from your computer after you install the package (to the computer) but before you make the attempt to install to the BB. While quite rare, I have heard of instances where an identical OS version (all 4 octets) from two different carriers handled a language differently (one worked, the other did not).

Good luck and let us know!
