downgrade from 6.0 to 5

i downloaded the 6.0 update about a month ago, and it blows.  its annoying, themes dont work on it, sucks to use because hitting left twice quickly makes you go back so when youre copying text you need to do it very slowly, and is just not what i expect of an "update".  So how do i downgrade?? Is there a way i can do it from my phone?? When i go to update it says up to date and nothing else is there. please let me know

True, most themes developed for OS5 will not work on OS 6, you will need to upgrade those themes to OS6 versions or just get new OS6 themes. I don't know what you mean about "hitting left twice quickly makes you go back...", so maybe you need to do it slower? Not sure there.

 

  1. Download and install an older OS5 version of the OS. BlackBerry Operating System Downloads
  2. Install the older OS to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
  3. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
  4. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

You'll fine 5.0.0.1030 about three selections down the page of the 9650 software.

 

And before you ask... yes, IF you are not Sprint, you can use this Sprint released operating system on your device on another carrier.

I too have the same issues.  Have you figured out a way to downgrade from 6.0 to 5 on the phone and then to back it up on PC on your original 5 software???

I had exactly the same issues, I also had problems with synchronization of my Bluetooth devices.

I have now successfully downgraded back to OS5, this is how i did it:

1. run desktop software

2. connect BB to PC

3. once connected click 'update my device'

4. then click 'view other versions'

5. then you have the option to downgrade the same way you upgraded

I too am reverting to version 5. UMA does not work very well in V6 and this is very important for me.

I hope RIM fix this soon, as some of the other features are good.

I just bought a BB for the first time. It came with 5.0 and then i downloaded the BlackBerry Desktop Software and then i upgraded it to 6.0 and i dont like it.  I tried pluging it in again and looking for 'Update My Device' and cant find it.. Is it because i have a Macbook?  But if anyone knows how to fix this on a mac please let me know. Thanks!
