how to fix "initialization failed"

Hi, new to this forum. My Blackberry Bold 9000 is displaying Initialization Failed and SOS for calls. I found a possible fix on another blog which said the software is corrupt and I need to download a new version. Only problem is that solution was for PC and I have a mac. Does anyone have a mac OS solution ?

Contact your carrier and make sure you have the BB data plan on your account.
