lock button does not work after update

Since taking the latest update on my Blackberry Bold 9780 the "lock button" does not work anymore.  How do I resolve this?

Re: lock button does not work after update

Hi LinkdaKR and welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums!

Are you referring to the keyboard lock or the password lock on your BlackBerry® smartphone?

Thanks.

Re: lock button does not work after update

The lock button on the top left hand side of the phone.  I believe it's the keyboard lock.  The screen turns black and is locked until I press it again.  It used to keep me from accidentally pocket dialing when I'm finished with the phone.

Re: lock button does not work after update

Which version of software did you upgrade your BlackBerry® smartphone to? If you're not sure, you can type 'myver' in any text field then press the space key to display it.

Thanks.

Re: lock button does not work after update

To test, if you hold down the A key, does it enable the keyboard lock?

Thanks.

Re: lock button does not work after update

When you press the back button, there should be instructions on the screen indicating how to unlock it.  What does it say?

Re: lock button does not work after update

when I press the back button the only message I get is "keyboard is locked, press the lock button to unlock".... the lock button is the one that hasn't worked since the update. I can get around this by shutting the phone off and restarting it. but I still have the original problem... the lock button does not work.

Re: lock button does not work after update

Can you try downgrading your BlackBerry smartphone to the previous version to test it for me?

Plug your BlackBerry smartphone into your PC then launch the BlackBerry Desktop Software.  Before doing anything, backup your device.  Next, click on Device then Update.  Choose View Other Versions from the pop up screen then choose 6.0.0.461 from the list.

If you could try this when you have the opportunity, then let me know if the lock button works, it will help in diagnosing whether its a software bug or a physical problem with the device.  You can just let me know the results.

Thanks!
