lost maps and gps app

I have a bold 9900 (on Rogers) and have lost the resident mapping/GPS app. How do I get it back. I tried BB Maps but got a message saying my device does not support the app. Please assist...

Re: lost maps and gps app

Hi and Welcome to the Community...and apologies for the delayed reply!

Hopefully you already have this resolved...but just in case.

Here is a KB that discusses that error:

  • KB19220 Unable to install the BlackBerry Maps application from the Research In Motion website on certain BlackBerry Smartphones

Hopefully it contains something useful! There also are multiple existing threads on this site that discuss that exact error...your review of those might prove useful, and a search of this site, using the error message, error code, or symptom, should reveal all applicable existing threads to you.

Good luck and let us know!

Re: lost maps and gps app

What I need is the original map app that came with the phone. Is this possible without a OS reset?

Re: lost maps and gps app

The KB linked at the bottom of that KB provides you exactly the instructions you need, the ability to install the BB Maps application via the Desktop Software, which will then use the version that came with your BB OS.

Note that it's impossible to know what version "came with the phone"...each OS version has it's own set of app versions, and if you've updated your OS, then the Maps version may be different than what was "originally" on your BB...but there's no way to know that unless you know what OS you had originally and what versions you've migrated through.
