Hello!
So I finally got my blackberry 9700 and I am in LOVE with it!
I bought a 16GB memory card for it, insertet it and transfered a bunch of music. (it took hours)
None of the music was transferred to my phone. Then I found out that my sd card wasn't formatted or something, and my phone won't read it. when I try to format it it fails..
I know nothing about these cards and this is my first blackberry, so I am clueless as to what to do next.
Please help!
thanks in advance
Jenny

back up whatever you have on your card now.
options > memory > press the menu key, select format card.
and then it's formatted for the bb9700, and put your stuff back on it in the appropriate locations.

right now I am using the 2GB card that came with my phone because when I try to back up the 16BG it says something like .. the formatting failed or something ![]()
I've read that I should try to format it on my laptop but how do you do that?

to format it on the laptop, plug the card in (you'll need an adapter of some sort) and it'll come up as removable storage. Go to my computer, and then right click it, and format.

I don't own an adapter :/
is there no other way to do this?
Did I simply buy a bad card?

I am having the same problems. My Blackberry is telling me that there is no media card in the phone and I can assure everybody that there is one there. The card works on my laptop and elsewhere. I tried reformatting. Through Blackberry Media Manager when my phone is connected to my computer, it tells me that there is no media card in my phone and to put one in. I bought a brand new card today and still no resolution. Does this mean the media card reader in the phone is no good? It used to work and after I had a complete software meltdown in my phone (error message 102) - I wiped and reinstalled everything from scratch and it has not worked since then. Any suggestions as to what is wrong.

Hey,
I recently put in a 32gb micro sd card into a 9700.
Firstly, the problem i found was that i got the same error you got, can't be read. I solved that by MAKING SURE IT IS IN. the card likes to stick out just a bit naturally. You have to push it all the way in so that there's only like 1 millimeter of the card showing.
Secondly, after realizing im so stupid and didn't make sure the card was in, the bold will tell me that it detects a card, something WILL pop up, and ask you to format. I tried formatting and it failed every time. At this point I got frustrated.
Lastly, to solve the problem, i used my adapter and plugged the micro sd card into my computer. From My Computer, i right clicked the drive (the removable storage card drive), and selected Format. Formatted. Then tried putting it back into the 9700, making sure it is definitely IN the slot. The blackberry folders populated themselves, and it worked like it should.
Summary, format card on computer through the use of an adapter, put it into the blackberry and make sure it's in.
