My Device: bold 9900

mobile internet failed to initialize

I can't get my bb 9900 bold to connect for mobile internet when I tether it to my laptop

 

I get the message initialization failed

 

I have downloaded the latest software version for the desktop

 

Anyone out there have the same problem and how was it resolved.

I must say that connecting your device using a mini-USB to your laptop, as a source of internet, can charge you according to your operator's EDGE tariff plan, and that can be much more than BIS. If you are comfortable with that, here is my configuration:

 

Phone Number: *99#

User: (leave blank, or single space) 

Pass: (same here)

Manufacturer: RIM

Model: BlackBerry IP Modem (CDMA)

APN: internet (ask your operator for correct APN, or get from Options - Device - Advanced Preferences - TCP/IP - APN)

 

I use Mac OS X, but I think it will be the same in Windows.

as an FYI on this issue where I updated my laptop to Windows 8.1 and my Blackberry Bold 9900 would not initialize mobile internet and got the same error message. Bold 9900 running v7.1.0 and Blackberry desktop software was 7.1. I installed desktop software from Blackberry recommended for the Bold 9900 on the Rogers network. Problem was solved.
