Please try going to Options > Device > Advanced System Settings > Host Routing Table, press the menu key and choose "Register Now" and reinsert your battery.
If this doesn't resolve the issue could you please provide more information? Is your signal uppercase or lowercase? Are you unable to send and receive all types of messages? (Email, BBM™, PIN to PIN) Was this software update released by your carrier?
