"Can't connect - see your service provider" error resolved on 9700 Bold

I updated to the latest Software version recently  and lost all ability to connect via Browers or App store etc even though I was able to connect to wifi.

 

Searched everywhere for a solution and got nowhere, decided to go back and delete the update and reinstalled the previous version (6.0 Bundle 1879)

 

Frustration over - all back to normal.
